Admitting Representative

Will be responsible for registering patients. Will follow through on all daily inpatient functions; verify all demographic information as well as insurance information through various insurance websites; pre-registration for all elective procedures and obtain pre-certifications. Will collet co-payments on patientt; all self-pay accounts must be check through the Medicate website.  Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills with attention to detail; must be able to multi-task.  Insurance experience required; Meditech experience a plus. 

16 hrs./wk. (float 1st/2nd shift) to cover weekend schedule.

40 hrs./wk. with a floating schedule (1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts) to cover Admitting, Walk-in or ED.

CT Scan Technologist

8 hrs./wk - every other Saturday and Sunday 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM. Will perform duties in the CT Dept. including scanning and procedures while providing optimal patient care. Ability to independently operate all CT equipment with adherence to policy and procedural protocols.  Qualifications:  Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program with advanced training in Computed Axial Tomography preferred; current ARRT and CT State License  or eligible; CT Certified or eligible and CPR Certification.

Case Manager

 Must be an R.N. with a BSN and hold a CT State License, as well as 3-5 years of Case Management experience.  Computer skills and strong verbal and written skills required.  Knowledge of Milliman Care Guidelines preferred.  Must have knowledge of Medicare Guidelines and Utilization Review and Discharge Planning experience in an acute care hospital setting.  Candidate will be responsible for performing concurrent reviews for all insurance companies, coordinating discharge plans.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Performs various duties assisting in the treatment and nursing care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient based on a fundamental knowledge and utilization of the nursing process and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.  Qualifications:  Must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program; State of Connecticut Certification is required. Must have a minimum 1 year inpatient experience in a Hospital or Nursing Home.  Skills:  BLS; basic computer skills including the ability to enter information pertaining to patient care per hospital policy.  Familiarity in working in Windows environment; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated working knowledge of a computerized medical information management system; demonstrated positive interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image; good written and verbal communication skills required.

Certified Surgical Technician - Operating Room

Full time (40 hrs./wk.  Monday - Friday with call rotation for weekends, weekdays and holidays) as well as per diem positions available.  The Surgical Technologist is an individual with specialized education who functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person.  He / she handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.  Will have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.  Will have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  Surgical Technologists work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.  QualificationsMust be a Certified Surgical Technologist, a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification is required; 2 years experience preferred; current  BLS certification required; Ortho experience preferred.

Coder (Outpatient)

Coding resource will perform all types of Outpatient category coding, as required per the Hospital's needs.  When coding Outpatient encounters, coder is responsible for identifying principals and secondary diagnoses and procedures on all Outpatient discharges, assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT and HCPCs codes to each and for verifying and maintaining the accuracy of the abstracted clinical and financial data.  Employee accepts accountability for quality, timeliness, completeness and accuracy of charts coded in each category and all abstraction and data entry to support all regulatory compliance, including core measures and hospital statistics.  Qualifications:  Formal HIM education with National Certification held for both Inpatient and Outpatient - AHIMA- CCS, CPC, CHC, RHIA, RHIT.  Minimum 2 years progressive coding and/or coding review experience with claims processing and data abstracting responsibilities in a Hospital setting.  Strong ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and PCS coding knowledge required coupled with thorough understanding of coding ethics, audit, abstracting and compliance.  Strong verbal communication, written and presentation skills.  Strong computer/PC skills needed.

Dietetic Technician

The Dietetic Technician will ensure that patients receive optimal nourishment based on MD orders, medical specific needs and patients' personal preference. Candidates must demonstrate effective organizational skills to ensure the smooth functioning of dietary service by adhering to established standards for obtaining and processing patient meal selections.  Must be technologically savvy with the ability to utilize electronic diet office systems. An Associate's degree  and Registration (or Registration eligible) as a Dietetic Technician with the American Dietetic Association or a Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition.   Matriculating student in either program will be considered based on completed coursework, internship hours completed and work history.

Emergency Room Technician

Will demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient.  Facilitates timely, individualized care of assigned patient under the direction of the RN.  Works collaboratively with RN/MD staff in order to meet individualized needs of the patient.  Provides patient safety in a manner that prevents injury. Perform expected tasks routinely and proactively.  Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Qualifications:  EMT with State of CT Certification required; or must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program with a State of CT Certificate required; or nursing student in an RN program through first semester. One year ER experience required.  Current BLS Certification; knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity working in a Windows environment.  Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

HVAC Technician

Minimum of 5 years experience in related field. Must have HS Diploma. Trade school courses in HVAC, electricity, controls (electronic and pneumatic) preferred. Experience in Healthcare (Hospital, Long Term care institutions) or Labroatory strongly preferred. Commercial experience could be acceptable if related to position.  Required to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis as per schedule and occasional shift work including 2nd and 3rd shift as per department needs.  Required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as per work demands.  Will provide support in snow removal on hospital grounds and off site areas as required.  Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities or designee, is responsible for work of complex difficulty in operations, maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of facility HVAC systems which include all components related to commercial grade heating (low and high pressure boilers), ventilation, air handlers, and air conditioning units (centrifugal, DX units, split system units), air compressors and multi-zone systems that incorporate pneumatic, electronic, and/or programmable logic controls. Responsible for general building (main hospital) and off site facilities maintenance as work demand requires. Must have HS diploma, Trade school courses in HVAC, electricity, controls (electronic and pneumatic) preferred. Perform work with greater degree of self-sufficiency and independence. Experience in Healthcare (Hospital or Long Term Care institutions) or Laboratory strongly preferred. Commercial experience could be acceptable if related to position. Knowledge of federal, state and local codes and ordinances related to facilities plumbing and piping systems. Ability to read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals, engineering drawings, and sequences of operations. Understanding and willing to learn of Building Automation Systems. Fire Protection Systems, HVAC Systems and Building Maintenance. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures, analytical ability for problem solving and to communicate effectively with others in writing and verbally. Provide technical expertise to his/her superiors and guidance and direction to lower level personnel. Ability to work in multidisciplinary department as part of a team.

HVAC Technician S1 or D1:  40 hrs./wk. on the 1st shift.  License required  for this position is S1 or D1 with ability acquiring OE2 License in 6 months from date of hire.

Imaging Information Specialist/Radiology Records Associate

Per Diem positions available to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of weekly hours worked / no benefits with these positions.   Will provide skilled office support to Radiologists  and Technologist with heavy phone interaction;  will burn imaging on CD's along with document scanning; will perform Quality Assessment on report, pull/file patient film; patient registration, order entry, insurance verification and collection of co-pay's.  Will utilize a network of computerized systems including Meditech, Powerscribe and Stentor; will provide quality service to patients, physicians and techs.  Requirements:  High School graduate or equivalent with experience in an Imaging Office or similar medical office setting; medical terminology / imaging procedure terminology with excellent communication and organizational skills required.

Interventional/Radiologic Technologist

40 hrs./wk. (20 hrs. Interventional and 20 hrs. Radiology)  Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM with on call.  Ability to work in IR and also  in X-ray.  Experience requires successful completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; current ARRT and CT State License or eligible.  A minimum of two years diagnostic radiology experience preferred, ideally in a hospital setting; IR experience is preferred along with CPR certification.

Medical Technologist

MRI TECHNOLOGIST

Performs all MRI Imaging exams and procedures in a hospital environment.  Ability to independently operate MRI scanner in a safe and effective manner while providing optimal patient care.  Prefer a minimum of 6 months MRI experience; successful completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; minimum of 2 years diagnostic radiology experience, preferably in a hospital setting; current ARRT and State License; MRI Registry (required within 18 months of hire or 18 months of initial training date); BLS certification.

Nurse Manager - M3W

Full time day position (#1270-19). The Manager has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for patient care administration and practice within a designated patient Care Unit - 24 hour responsibility in managing the human and material resources of a nursing unit.  Contributes to and supports the philosophy and objective of the Nursing Department and the hospital to effectuate quality patient care, staff development, and staff and patient satisfaction.  Provides house coverage on a rotating basis. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program; holds a current RN license in the State of Connecticut; current BLS certification; Master degree preferred (MSN, MBA, MHA, or MPH); prior  experience in acute care, telemetry and management experience are required.

NURSING SUPERVISOR

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed; no benefits with this position.  The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the nursing care provided to patients, allocates and redistributes human and physical resources, assures patient safety, acts as resource person to staff, resolves problems for all hospital departments. Assures adequate staffing levels and mix for each nursing unit.  Qualifications: CT RN License.  BLS, ACLS required;  BSN or BS required; minimum 5 years professional experience in acute care required.  1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred. 

Occupational Therapist

Per diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept. No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position.  Will provide OT services to develop, improve or restore skills in activities of daily living, work or productive activities in play and leisure. Intervention involves therapeutic use of meaningful and purposeful occupations adaptation of environments, promotion of health and wellness, grades tasks and activities as prerequisites to engagement in occupation, design, fabrication, application or training in the use of assistive technology or othotic/prosthetic devices, application of physical agent modalities and application of ergonomic principles to the performance of occupation.  Serves as a resource person for the team and department; participates in orientation of new staff therapist, physicians and other health personnel.  Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required, with Master's degree preferred.  Must have a current Occupational Therapy license in CT.  Must be able to push-pull, lift-carry and transfer patients.

OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT

 (2) 40 hrs./wk.  (#1263-19ORA; #1264-19ORA):   Flexible shifts/hours between 6:30 AM - 7:30 PM Monday - Friday; call rotation on weekends and holidays.  Under the direction of the RN, assists the perioperative care team in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance, care of the environment, stocking rooms, picking cases, transportation of patients, supplies/equipment, specimens and blood products to, from and within the surgical unit. Patient Access Supervisor

Full time day position. Supervises and coordinates a variety of functions within Patient Access Services relating to hospital admissions and discharge including patient registration and financial counseling, insurance verification and bed control. Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred. Experience in administrative and staff supervision.  A Minimum of 3 years management experience in Patient Access, in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.  Experience in project management.  Knowledge of information systems, healthcare applications and Microsoft products.  Meditech experience.

Phlebotomist

Collects blood specimens at the Hospital, Milford Medical Lab, Patient Service Center’s (Out labs), Physician Office Collection Stations and Nursing Homes. Delivers specimens to the Laboratory.  Travels to nursing homes and remote collection stations as required. Registers patient in Meditech if required. Order-enters all requested patient testing. Receives all collected specimens into Meditech. Generates and processes Meditech Collection Batches at the appointed. Collects STAT’s; using the Meditech generated specimen labels.  Processes all specimens and requisitions, insuring that the documentation and the specimens are distributed as required.   Answers general Laboratory telephones and performs other clerical duties as required. Phlebotomy experience is required; valid CT driver's license with good driving history required.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Per Diem position to primarily cover weekends (Saturday 7:30 AM - 4 PM and Sunday 7:30 AM - 12 Noon).  No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position.  Will provide physical therapy services to patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes; provide prevention and wellness services, including screening and health promotion.  The physical therapist works within the practice guidelines as defined by Connecticut state law.  Requirements:  Bachelor degree in Physical Therapy, with Master's or Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred. Radiology Aide

20 hrs./wk.  Monday - Friday 9 AM - 1 PM.  Will transport patients  to the Diagnostic Imaging Department from all areas of the hospital. Will assist technologist in providing optimal patient care.  Will transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher and transfer patients from beds, chairs and imaging tables.  Training and knowledge of Universal Precautions; understanding and acceptance of possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids; knowledge and safety standards regarding oxygen equipment, I-med, monitors  and catheters;  ability to move / lift a minimum weight of 100 lbs. on a routine basis; ensures comfort, dignity and confidentiality of patients and have the ability to appropriately respond to the patient needs during transport. High School Diploma or equivalent; Minimum of 1 year patient care and/or hospital experience preferred; CPR Certification.

Radiologic Technologist

Primary Function:  Performs optimal diagnostic imaging procedures in a hospital environment.  Must have the ability to manipulate and operate x-ray equipment to include fluoroscopy unit, both portable and fixed.  Demonstrates competency in all imaging exams including operating room procedures and trauma work with the knowledge and expertise of all job responsibilities in various clinical settings using various imaging equipment.  Minimum of 1 year radiology experience preferred; must have current ARRT & CT State License or be registry eligible.

Service Aide/Float

Duties include, but are not limited to general cleaning/disinfecting of assigned areas inlcuding patient rooms.  Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors and carpets; trash, linen and medical waste removal; Collect linen and pushinglinen carts throughout the facility.   Will complete meeting setups as needed.  Must be able to climb ladders, bend and lift up to 50 - 60  lbs.

SUPERVISOR - Microbiology

40 hrs./wk. 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with rotating weekends and holidays.  Will supervise one section of the Clinical Laboratory on a day-to-day basis, but be  able to step in at need in any of the Sections defined as Supervisor, technical staff, or phlebotomist, reporting to the Chief Technologist/Lab Manager.  Must be qualified as a General Supervisor under CLIA'88 Sec 493.1461 or Sec. 493.1489 and have such experience as to be able to supervise all activities and personnel in Microbiology. Ability to supervise Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank sections of the Pathology Dept. is desirable but not immediately essential, as cross training in such disciplines will follow hiring.

SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  Hours of coverage needed for all shifts, but mainly needed for 2nd shift (4:00 PM - 12 midnight) and 3rd shift (12 midnight to 8:00 AM).  No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position.  Prior office/telephone experience with previous switchboard experience a plus.

Ultrasonographer

 Performs a variety of diverse duties in diagnostic medical sonography.   Performs ultrasound scans using real time, Doppler and color flow Doppler.   Assists physician in aspiration and biopsy procedures. Advanced knowledge of anatomy. Qualifications:  Must be a High School graduate or equivalent; Work requires sufficient education/training to acquire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (RDCS); Registry eligible; one year completed formal ultrasound training;  CPR certified.
