Accounts Receivable Analyst

40 hrs. /wk.  8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday - Friday.  Prepares daily bank deposits; receives and processes all A/R monies for patients, insurances and GL accounts from deposit to posting, reconciling BAR and GL differences.  Logging of patient valuables; processes all incoming and outgoing mail; coverage for Front Lobby office as needed; assist in resolution of self-pay credit balances; other duties assigned.  Must have knowledge of patient billing, excellent analytical skills; knowledge of Meditech and must be familiar with office equipment.  Experience:  Minimum of an Accounting Certification from a Business School required and /or Accounts Receivable experience in a Healthcare environment. 

Admitting Representative

8 hrs./wk. - every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with rotating holidays.   Will be responsible for Registering patients for ER, Private Referral, Direct Admission and ER Admission. Will follow through on all daily inpatient functions; verify all demographic information as well as insurance information through various insurance websites; pre-registration for all elective procedures and obtain pre-certifications.  Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills with attention to detail; must be able to multi-task.  Insurance experience required; Meditech experience a plus. 

 

 

Case Manager

Will be responsible for providing verbal and written explanation of observation to all observation status admissions within 24 hours of admission.  Will also be responsible for facilitating appropriate level of care assignment and discharge planning in the Emergency Department.  Also, ensure that anticipated discharges on the Medical Surgical units occur.  Qualifications:  RN with a BSN and Connecticut State License, as well as 3-5 years of Case Management experience.  Knowledge of Milliman Care Guidelines preferred; Utilization Review and Discharge Planning experience in an acute hospital care setting; knowledge of Medicare guidelines; computer skills required.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Performs various duties assisting in the treatment and nursing care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient based on a fundamental knowledge and utilization of the nursing process and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.  Qualifications:  Must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program; State of Connecticut Certification is required. Prior acute care experience preferred. Skills:  BLS; basic computer skills including the ability to enter information pertaining to patient care per hospital policy.  Familiarity in working in Windows environment; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated working knowledge of a computerized medical information management system; demonstrated positive interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image; good written and verbal communication skills required.

Certified Surgical Technician - OR

The Surgical Technologist is an individual with specialized education who functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person.  He / she handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.  Will have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.  Will have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  Surgical Technologists work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.  Qualifications: Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist, a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program;  at least 2 years of prior experience is preferred; current  BLS Certification required.

40 hrs./wk., (#856-15ST) Monday - Friday with flexible shifts depending on the needs of the Dept., either 5-eight hours shifts OR 4-ten hour shifts per week.  Weekday, weekend and holiday call rotation is required.

Coder (Inpatient)

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept. providing coverage towards the Hospital's coding of inpatient discharges.  This position ensures the consistency and facilities data quality relating to hospital inpatient coding and grouping.  Accepts accountability for quality, timeliness, completeness and accuracy of inpatient coding, abstracting and data entry to support patient severity, compliance, optimal and timely reimbursment and accurate statistics utilizing the ICD-10 code set.  Qualifications:  Formal HIM education with National Certification AHIMA-CCS, (RHIA, RHIT). Miminum 2 years progressive coding or coding review experience in inpatient coding with claims processing and/or data management responisbilities.  Strong ICD-10 coding skills and understanding of coding ethics and compliance.  Strong verbal communication, writing and presentation skills with strong computer PC/skills.

Cook

Will prepare food for all patients and customers in a clean environment practicing safe food handling; will read recipes, takes inventory and places food orders. Must have "Serve-Safe" Certification  within 6 months of hire.  Must have a minimum of one year Nursing Home or Hospital Cooking experience.  Prior Restaurant / Healthcare / Clinical food service experience preferred. Must be familiar with HACCP. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and withstand extended periods of standing and walking.

Will demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient.  Facilitates timely, individualized care of assigned patient under the direction of the RN.  Works collaboratively with RN/MD staff in order to meet individualized needs of the patient.  Provides patient safety in a manner that prevents injury. Perform expected tasks routinely and proactively.  Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Qualifications:  EMT State of CT Certification required or must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program - State of CT Certificate required; current BLS Certification;  knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity working in a Windows environment.  Must have good written and verbal communication skills.  Experience preferred.

Food Services Supervisor

16 hrs./wk. to cover the 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM shift.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays when needed.   Supervises all aspects of the Dept.; audits, checks and manages staff functions to ensure proper meal service; relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals; completes administrative work (i.e. inventory, schedules); maintains a clean, sanitary environment for patients, visitors and staff.  Requirements: HS graduate with good communication/customer service skills a must with the ability to speak, understand and write English; Food Safety Certification; good working knowledge of commercial food service; requires familiarity with Nutrition Diet Modifications; must be able to program software and operate Tablet for Health Touch Patient Meal Ordering system.

Floor Refinisher / Service Aide

Per Diem position  to cover rotating shifts as needed.  No guarantee of weekly hours worked, no benefits with this position.   General cleaning, sweeping, mopping of floors, shampooing carpets, stripping & waxing floors, climbing ladders, bending and lifting up to 50lbs.  Prior floor care experience required. 

HISTOLOGY TECHNICIAN

Per Diem position.  To cover hours as needed in the Department.  No guarantee of hours worked, no benefits.   Will prepare tissue specimens, fine needle aspirations, embedding, cutting, staining and slide preparation of surgical tissue for diagnosis.  Performs secretarial and other duties as directed by the Histology Supervisor and the Pathologist.   Requirements:  At least 60 semester hours of academic credit with 12 semester hours in both Biology and Chemistry required.  Knowledge of histology techniques and procedures; minimum of one year experience in a CAP accredited laboratory required.  Meditech Pathology Module exp.; Histologist Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred. 

Host / Hostess

Will promote meal assistance to all patients on a daily basis including meal selection, service and retrieval.  Accurately services food and beverages to patients in accordance with patient's diet prescription.  Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times. Must be a  High School graduate with good communication and customer service skills a must; able to speak and write English; prior healthcare food service experience; ability to be cross-trained; ability to use Health Touch software and tablet computer; knowledge of basic diet information; must successfully complete training.

Infection Preventionist/Quality Management Coordinator

40 hrs./wk.  The Infection Preventionist (24 hrs./wk) is responsible for the surveillance, analyst, interpretation and report of hospital and community acquired infections; educating employees about infection prevention; and the development of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection control standards that meet Joint Commission, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services, Center for Disease Control Prevention ( CDC), Connecticut Department of Public Health and other nationally recognized agencies recommendations and requirements.  The Infection Preventionist also assists in the Employee Health program.  The Infection Preventionist will report to the Director of Quality Management and work collaboratively with other departments to promote the well-being and health of patients and employees.  Requirements:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, Certification in Infection Control with a minimum of 2 years experience in Infection Control required.  Registered Nursing Licensure in the State of Connecticut with strong clinical background. Exp. in the use of Microsoft to collect and  create documents for data reporting.  Exp. with Meditech system preferred.  The QM Coordinator (16 hrs./wk.)- duties include data collection, meeting facilitation, orientation of new employees, project work for state, federal and Joint Commission compliance as well as numerous internal projects designed to improve the quality of care and patient safety. Requirements: Current RN License or related clinical background, i.e. Medical Technologist, in the State of CT.  Experience in quality or performanace improvement activities preferred.  Must be computer literate; prefer exp. in Microsoft Access, Excel, Power Point and Word.

Medical Lab Tech / Medical Technologist - Microbiology

40 hrs./wk. 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM with rotating weekends and holidays.  Will perform various technical duties in the discipline of  Microbiology.  Operates both automated and manual testing instrumentation.  Evaluates quality control and verifies all patient results prior to release.  Contacts physicians to report critical results in accordance with laboratory policy; performs various computer operations in Meditech computer system, including patient registration / order entry, automated and manual result entry, quality control entry and patient result reporting.  In addition collects blood specimens in all areas of the hospital and Milford Medical Laboratory if required.  Requirements:  2 yr. or 4 yr. degree in medical technology or biology; clinical laboratory experience required.  Demonstrated technical proficiency in the Microbiology section of the Lab; experience with automated and manual instrumentation; experience and knowledge relating to collection of blood specimens from patients of all ages; keyboarding skills relating to Meditech computer system; unless indicated all responsibilites are essential functions of the position.

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of hours and no benefits with this position.  Qualifications:  Minimum of 3 years experience preferred.  CNMT and /or RTN mandatory.  If employee holds an active R.T.R., a current CT state license is also required;  CPR certification; ACLS preferred.

NURSING SUPERVISOR

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the nursing care provided to patients, allocates and redistributes human and physical resources, assures patient safety, acts as resource person to staff, resolves problems for all hospital departments. Assures adequate staffing levels and mix for each nursing unit.  Qualifications: CT RN License.  BLS, ACLS required;  BSN or BS required; 5 years professional experience in acute care required.  1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT

Under the direction of the RN, assists the perioperative care team in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance, care of the environment, stocking rooms, picking cases, transportation of patients, supplies/equipment, specimens and blood products to, from and within the surgical unit. Must be a High School graduate; preferable a graduate of an Operating Room Assistant program, Surgical Technician program, or a C.N.A. Must be knowledgeable regarding basic medical terminology, be able to identify many pieces of equipment used in the OR, be able to differentiate sterile from unsterile. Must successfully complete an orientation program in the Perioperative Services Dept. Must be able to take call independently on weekend; BLS with previous OR exp. preferred.

Pathology Secretary

Per diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of hours worked/no benefits with this position. Will provide secretarial services to the physicians and Laboratory Manager in the Dept. of Pathology, producing high quality patient reports for Surgical Pathology and Cytology using the Meditech Computer system.  Manages the department Quality Assurance program; generates statistical reports; submission and receipt of pathology consultation specimens and reports; responds to telephone inquiries, managing the communication between pathologist and attending physicians; performs other secretarial services as required by the Chief Pathologist, Lab Manager and Section Supervisors including, but not limited to, procedure typing and billing issue resolution.  Requirements:  General secretarial experience and knowledge relating to surgical pathology and cytopathology operations; keyboard skills relating to data entry, word processing and spreadsheet generation; pathology and cytology; ability to manage a pathology QA program and to generate required statistical reports.

Phlebotomist

Collects blood specimens at the Hospital, Milford Medical Lab, Patient Service Center’s (Out labs), Physician Office Collection Stations and Nursing Homes. Delivers specimens to the Laboratory.  Travels to nursing homes and remote collection stations as required. Registers patient in Meditech if required. Order-enters all requested patient testing. Receives all collected specimens into Meditech. Generates and processes Meditech Collection Batches at the appointed. Collects STAT’s; using the Meditech generated specimen labels.  Processes all specimens and requisitions, insuring that the documentation and the specimens are distributed as required.   Answers general Laboratory telephones and performs other clerical duties as required. Phlebotomy experience is required; valid CT driver's license with good driving history required.

Primarily to provide first assist on a variety of surgical cases including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, thoracic and vascular.  Also will have patient rounding and ED coverage responsibilities and call rotation.  A Connecticut PA or APRN and at least 1 year of surgical experience are required.  Experience in internal medicine is a plus.

Radiologic Technologist / Clinical Assistant

Per diem position to cover hours as needed; no guarantee of hours worked; no benefits with this position.  In addition to diagnostic imaging procedures, must demonstrate competency in venipuncture, with the ability to collect blood specimens; other functions as requested by area supervisor.  Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Sciences.  Minimum of 3 years radiology experience preferred; must have current ARRT & CT State License, CPR certification and venipuncture experience preferred. 

Receptionist / Desk Clerk / Operator

40 hrs./wk. - (#942-16T)) Flexible 8 hr. shifts between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM with weekend and holiday rotation.  Will provide a variety of tasks related to cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization and distribution of instruments and supplies required by medical, nursing and paramedical personnel. Requirements:  Must be a High School graduate or equivalent; Graduate of Sterile Processing Program; National Certification required or obtained within 1 year of hire.   SPD experience and/or surgical experience preferred.  Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 lbs., carry 35 lbs., push 200 lbs. and pull 40-50 lbs.

 

STERILE PROCESSING SUPERVISOR

40 hrs./wk.  (#929-15T)  - 40 hrs./wk.  Responsible for the daily operational functions of the Sterile Processing Dept.  Duties include maintaining adequate staffing, supervising and training staff, insuring the cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization and  distribution of instruments and supplies in the O.R.  Meets with the O.R. Manager to review each day's schedule and required instrumentation/implants.  Position reports to the Manger of Perioperative Services.  Requires National Sterile Processing Certification and a minimum of 2 years of SPD experience.  Prior supervisory or charge experience is preferred. 

Surgical PA / APRN

SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

Unit Secretary

Responsible for receptionist, secretarial and scheduling duties of the unit.  Functions as a focal communication link for the nursing unit.   Qualifications include:  High School graduate; knowledge of medical terminology; one year previous secretarial experience preferred.  Skills include BLS, strong Excel and Word skills with familiarity working in a Windows environment, demonstrated working knowledge of computerized medical information and management system, positive interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively;  Must have good written and verbal communication skills.  Unit Secretaries are required to work every other weekend and holiday.

Unit Secretary - Emergency Department -  16 hrs./wk.  3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, 1 day during the week plus every other weekend and holiday. (Off: Good Friday)

Unit Secretary -Pre-Admission Testing Secretary - Surgi Center - Per Diem position to cover hours as needed within the Unit.  Maintains patient charts; works closely with MD offices/Admitting Dept. on pre-admission paperwork/schedules; mnages Reception Desk area directing volunteers of daily duties; responsible for patient/pager system; escorts patient's when needed.

Ultrasonographer

Performs a variety of diverse duties in diagnostic medical sonography.   Performs ultrasound scans using real time, Doppler and color flow Doppler.   Assists physician in aspiration and biopsy procedures. Advanced knowledge of anatomy. Qualifications:  Must be a High School graduate or equivalent having successfully completed an accredited Ultrasound program;   ARDMS or eligible; CPR Certification required.  New Graduates will have 12 months post date of graduation (clinical) plus 6 months to obtain both SPI and one specialty exam (i.e. abdomen, OB, breast).  Sonographers currently working in Ultrasound (longer than 18 months) who have yet to obtain ARDMS status will be given a time frame of 8 months in which to acquire it.
