What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients.Milford Hospital's hospitalist service features a team of full time internal medicine physicians. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to provide ongoing and immediate care. They are not residents or interns.

While you are in the hospital, our hospitalists will work with your primary care physician to ensure continuity of care and a seamless transition to home once you are discharged. Patients are encouraged to think of hospitalists as a partner with their regular doctor, one who is working as a member of the healthcare team to assist in your return to good health.
