An in-hospital physician to help navigate and manage your care.

Milford Hospital is among the growing number of hospitals offering a hospitalist service to ensure our patients receive the highest quality care during their stay.

What is a Hospitalist?

A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in the care of hospitalized patients.Milford Hospital's hospitalist service features a team of full time internal medicine physicians. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to provide ongoing and immediate care. They are not residents or interns.

While you are in the hospital, our hospitalists will work with your primary care physician to ensure continuity of care and a seamless transition to home once you are discharged. Patients are encouraged to think of hospitalists as a partner with their regular doctor, one who is working as a member of the healthcare team to assist in your return to good health.

What are the benefits to patients?

  • Hospitalists are always available, monitoring your progress and responding to any changes in your condition.
  • Under a hospitalist's care, you'll have more opportunities to speak with a medical professional regarding your treatment.
  • Studies have shown that hospitalist programs reduce the length of time a patient spends in the hospital.
  • Hospitalist care allows primary care physicians to spend more time with their patients in the office setting, while feeling assured that their patients are receiving the very best care in the hospital.
